BALTIMORE, MD – After two unsuccessful attempts to relieve a patient’s suffering from a miserable cold, doctor Landon Sledge urged the patient to make his illness worse.
“The prescribed pills didn’t help, and the shot didn’t do any good,” said Sledge, describing how he told his patient to go home, take a hot bath, open all the windows, and stand in the draft.
“The patient immediately complained that if he did that, he’d get pneumonia.”
Sledge went on to explain how that was clearly the point. “I can cure pneumonia.”
